The reason why women own so many types of shoes is that shoes complete the outfit. And for women, there are not one type of universal shoe for every occasion.
Compare this with the average guy. We are lucky. We can get buy with only 2 or 3 pairs. A pair of tennis shoes for day to day use. And a pair of dress shoes.
Meanwhile, for women, there are shoes for work. Shoes for exercise. Shoes for shopping. Shoes for casual events. And shoes for formal events. And of course, there are often multiple pairs to match different outfits.
Or more likely - she was out shopping. Saw a pair that she must have. That would go with that outfit. And then go home and become part of her shoe museum.
However, choosing wedding shoes is not like picking out any other pair of shoes.
Give yourself a basic set of routine to try the shoes with – you should have no difficulty walking, climbing stairs and even dancing in your wedding shoes.
Test With The Dress
Many dresses have a long train and can be a little hard to walk in. You won’t want to trip during the wedding so you should have a good amount of control in the shoes that you choose.
How To Choose Between Heels and Platforms
If there is one thing, I’m grateful for it’s that I don’t have to wear heels.
I’m not sure how women do it. But I can say your fiance is happy when you do wear heels.
They can be tricky to walk in. Even more so when you’re nervous such as walking down an aisle full of people who are 100% watching you. And everyone has a camera out filming you walk. To post on Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, and YouTube.
And did we forget you’re wearing this dress that has the mobility of molasses?
This is why you might be tempted to look at platform shoes. They would give you the lift of a heel. But with more stability.
There is one more option. An option that gives you the look of a heel but with more stability.
Heeled dancing shoes.
These are the shoes that dancers wear. If you watch “Dancing With The Stars,” then you have seen them.
So try on a few pair of dancing heels and see if those work better for you.
Choosing A Color
When you start looking for wedding outfit - you will discover there is more to white than white. For example, your guy might look at a pair and say “yeah those are white, “ but they are champagne color evening shoes.
But don’t feel like you must find the perfect shade of white shoe.
Instead, you can have your “something blue” is your shoes.
And if you can’t find a pair of shoes that has the color you want then you can always dye a pair.

For many women - the style of the shoe is the most important.
Though keep in mind what type of wedding you’re having.
For example, your 6 inch Louis Vuitton’s are not going to work for a beach wedding. You will want to wear more practical shoes such as wedding sandals for a beach wedding. Or go barefoot.
But if you are having your wedding at a fancy wedding chapel or country club then you will want to have a dressier shoe.
Though if you are doing the rustic wedding and looking for tips on how to find shoes for that type of wedding then read this.
Remember - you might be wearing your shoes for several hours.
So make sure you choose shoes you can wear for a long time and not just something that you can suffer through for 30 minutes for the ceremony.
You want something that is both comfortable and stylish.
So try on your shoes towards the end of the day.
The foot expands during the day, and you want to buy shoes when your feet are at its largest size.
Tip: Wear your shoes inside the house before the wedding, do this until you can wear your shoes for 4-5 hours without hurting, this will make sure that the shoes are soft and comfortable on your wedding day.
The fabric of your shoes will need to match to the fabric of the hem of your dress.
So for example - a satin dress should match to shiny shoes.
Or lace material on your shoes if you have a lace hem.
And you go with flatter stuff on your shoes if you have a matte style finish on your dress.
If you want to have bedazzled shoes - make sure the crystals on your shoes match well with your dress.
The dress is the lead singer of this group.
The shoes are the backup singers.
If you want to wear different shoes at the reception but still wear your dress - make sure your reception or dancing shoes heels match to your wedding shoes.
This way you don’t find yourself tripping or just looking a bit off because the shoes make the dress look too short.
Wear Your Shoes For Your Alterations
When you go to get your final fitting by the dress tailor - make sure you wear the shoes you’ll be wearing for the big day.
If you are switching shoes - bring both pairs.
This way when they measure you for your alterations - they will measure you as you plan to look for the wedding.
